I was invited to attend Christian McLeod’s #CM SS15 belt collection showcase in Glasgow last Thursday and the dress code was Black Tie. I’m never a fan of long satin dresses and big bouncy hair and stuff, so I’ve left the outfit situation for sorting out “itself” 5 hours before the event, even though the invite landed in my inbox a good few weeks in advance.
“Never put too much thought into it” – is my ethos when it comes to any occasion styling. Make the best of what you’ve already got, be yourself and don’t quite follow the dress-code… Ha! I wanted something edgy, something simple and something that goes with my short bob. I wanted THIS, but sadly H&M don’t do quick delivery and they don’t stock some of their items in stores – thanks H&M! So I decided to leave it until after I get my hair done at Twisted Sister, which would give me exactly an hour of shopping before heading home to change and head out for the night. I had a playsuit to return to H&M so I’m sure I would have found some kind of shirt or shift dress to wear as a last resort, but then this stunning dress and clutch happened… at Twisted Sister salon! YES!
My super talented hairdresser Courtney Stewart has been working so hard on her new collection “State of Mind” behind the scenes and is soon launching her boutique with items sourced all over the world right in the salon! The most genius concept ever don’t you think? So happy to have had a first peek at some of her unique pieces from “State of Mind” and certainly extra happy for my last-minute life-saving styling session with Courtney at the back of the salon whilst my colour was on! I came in with two problems – warmth in my hair and “nothing to wear” panic, an issue that usually has nothing to do with hair stylists, but I left the salon with new darker and cooler hair colour (which I absolutely love), an edgy, yet simple dress I had in mind all along and even a clutch to wear for the Black Tie event that same evening. Courtney Stewart, my “State of Mind” certainly changed for the better after seeing you. It’s like my mind was read… but I’d say it’s Courtney’s amazing styling and listening skills with a rare eye for both amazing hair and fashion!
Can’t wait to see her boutique launch very soon and can’t wait for more events now. Last minute Black Tie event shopping in H&M no more!
Follow Twisted Sister on Facebook and Twitter for updates on the launch of the “State of Mind” and their in-salon boutique, but I’ll make sure to keep you all posted.
