There’s nothing more exciting than getting ready for a special girly Christmas Night Out. With everyone being so busy all year, December is a month for overdue catch-ups with friends and really letting our hair down. I don’t go out that much, so getting ready for a festive night out means I’m going all in. It’s almost like a pre-party for myself before the actual party if you know what I mean? Usually, it’s a boring glass of wine (or two) while I get ready and Spotify in the background, but this year I’ve decided to make my “get-ready” process extra special thanks to RumChata – my new favourite creamy liqueur. I’ve created the ultimate pre-party-get-ready-with-me guide for us busy girls and I urge you to follow it step-by-step. Yes, it’s a must. We all deserve some “me-time” and getting ready for a girls’ night out is certainly considered as “me time” if you do it right. Read on.

TIME
Before you start stressing about every single little detail about your night out like where to go and what to wear etc. – breathe. Make sure you give yourself at least 2 hours before you leave your house – otherwise it all gets too rushed and not enjoyable. Also, make sure that your kids, pups, husband are all being taken care of that evening so that nothing can distract you from the well-deserved “me time”.
OUTFIT
You may have planned your ultimate party look last month or have that favourite dress you want to wear already, so lets nothing come between you and that decision. If however, you’re a last minute kind of girl and need a bit of help in that department – I say go for one very statement piece like a sequin top or skirt and dress it down with your favourite semi-smart clothes. In that way, you’ll feel comfortable and sparkle at the same time.
MUSIC
Put on your favourite music (loud) as soon as you’re ready to start your “pre-party” and sing your heart out. Forget about the neighbours and just enjoy your cheesy tunes that you may hardly listen because you’re too busy. I love my usual playlists and podcasts every day, but I get my Record Player out and my favourite records for special occasions and this is a special occasion indeed. My favourites are the classic soul and funk music – always cheer me up.
CHOOSE YOUR DRINK WISELY
I used to pour myself a small glass of red in the past while I was getting ready for a night out and I don’t know what I was thinking as it made me so tired. There was this one time that I gave up altogether and stayed home. By all means, if that’s what your heart and body tells you to do that night – stay home. We’re all about looking after yourself, but if it’s a drink or two at home to stay in, our before a night out – make it special. Be your own bartender and shake it like a polaroid picture. I’ve made a delicious RumChata Lattini – with all the flavours of a classic Espresso Martini, but with a beautiful creamy finish. Check out the recipe below, so easy to make and SO tasty. Mmmm…
HAVE FUN (ALSO WISELY)
And lastly, have an amazing night – you deserved it. Dance your night away, talk and laugh so much until you lose your voice (ok maybe not) and visit some of your favourite bars and clubs, but… Be careful about mixing drinks and leaving your glass unattended. Make sure you get home safe and drink responsibly.
RUMCHATA
Now let’s talk about RumChata for a second. First of all, how sleek and chic is the packaging? Secondly, it smells and tastes AMAZING and I cannot tell you how much I wanted to drink both of those martinis whilst on this shoot. Although I went for a classic RumChata Lattini (think a creamier espresso martini) for that lovely little kick before my night out, you can drink RumChata in so many other ways. Add it to hot chocolate, mocha, drink it as a shot or make some other cocktails such as Pumpkin Pie Martini, Cinnamon Roll or a White Russian. Check out RumChata recipes HERE for some inspiration.
How I made my RumChata Lattini:
25 ml of RumChata
25ml of Vanilla vodka
25ml of Coffee liqueur
25ml of Fresh espresso
Simply shake your vanilla vodka, coffee liqueur and fresh espresso over ice, strain into a martini glass and finish by swirling in a shot of RumChata for a delicious creamy finish and marble effect. You could even sprinkle with some chocolate or cinnamon for a festive twist!
Hope you enjoyed my little get-ready-with-me and RumChata post and get to try this delicious drink this Christmas.
