Hands up if you’ve been busier than ever in the last few weeks (me!). With so many work projects running up to Christmas, being away to Tallinn and Halloween parties to attend to with the kid, it’s no surprise that I hardly have any time for my partner and my second love – shopping. Sympathise? Both “problems” must be fixed and don’t you worry, this time of year has its other perks when it comes to shopping in Glasgow. Over 200 stores in the city centre offer extended hours to at least 7pm every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday and on a Thursday most stores are open till 8pm, which is perfect for busy girls like us.
So, me and my better half managed to find some time for each other (finally!) and planned a dinner date in one of our favourite restaurants in Glasgow’s city centre. By “planned” I mean agreed the night before and if you’re like me, first thing you think about is what you’re going to wear… We rarely go out, so I wanted to wear something nice (and new) for our Monday night date, but with so much work to go through during the day and dinner booked for 8pm I only had an hour to pick up an outfit with a £100 budget. Eeek!
I love Glasgow shopping – it’s also called “The Glasgow Style Mile” which is a host to the biggest brands and major retailers as well as designer stores like Cruise, Armani, Burberry exclusive shops and my high street favourites like Zara, Forever 21 and many more. I headed straight to Buchanan Galleries – my favourite shopping centre as you already know because it’s great and cheap for parking and has my favourite retailers in it like Mango and H&M.
So I drive in, park the car and head straight to Mango where I fell in love with this cozy grey knit. Brining this high neck knit jumper with me to the dinner date was the best thing I’ve done. We ended up going for a long walk along the River Clyde after our dinner and it’s kept me so warm and cozy despite the bare legs situation… I grabbed the knit before I got anything else – how crazy is that? I just knew it would go with anything and after trying it on I had to get it. It’s made of proper “cuddle material” and your date literally won’t take his hands off you! Ha!
After getting my cozy “outerwear” sorted all I needed was a simple trendy statement piece and I almost fainted when I saw this denim flare seventies dress in Warehouse. Last dress in my size that fitted like a glove had put a huge smile on my face and on the sales assistant’s too I was that happy! 35 minutes later I had my outfit sorted and because I knew it would go with any style of shoes / boots, I popped in to Boots and picked up a new lipgloss, because who doesn’t like a new lippy? Well, boyfriends don’t…
The date was fab and shopping was amazing! I love a challenge and can see myself making the most of the late night trading in Glasgow before Christmas. I’m already planning some shopping for my Christmas party looks in Glasgow in the next couple of weeks, so look out for some posts on that.
