STUCK FOR WORDS
Someone asked me the other day to describe my style. An answer most fashion bloggers probably already have rehearsed and perfected over the years and it does help for interviews or pitches I guess. I used to have a quick answer for these things too, but at that moment (and still now) I was left speechless. I know what I like and I know what I suit or don’t like, but what actually is my style? Can you label yourself with a few particular words and allow yourself and others to know you by those words? There are some people whose style is evidently describable and hardly ever changes – it’s what they are and that’s great. There are other people though who I look at and think yeah, you’re stylish and you look cute. Classic, high street, minimalist, casual, smart, 70s, vintage, fast fashion, cheap, expensive, girly, sporty, edgy… How would I describe my style? Can style change as your get older, your body changes or hair?
Call me uncreative or lost for words, but at the moment I cannot describe my style. I dress based on how I feel every day. I have a few staples and a couple of rules I try to stick to that work for me, but even they too change depending on a situation / event I’m dressing for. I don’t like girly things too much I used to say, but then I go and buy the prettiest frilly pink dress because I simply fell in love with it. I choose block heels over stilettos anytime, but then I see a pair of killer heels and simply need to have them. My style is very temperamental but the most important thing is being comfortable in what you wear – even if it means sizing up a size or two.
Are you the same as me? Or are you able to easily describe your style? What would you say my style was (asking for a friend haha)?
