“Why are you wearing sunglasses? It’s Winter” – asked the little girl who was nicely playing with my daughter in the park on Sunday. This made me smile. Don’t you just love the way in which the female mind works from such an early age? Rationality… Logic (maybe not so much)… Reason… She knew it was sunny, but she also knew there was more!
It was a beautiful, snowy, bright and sunny day, which fully justifies me decision to wear sunglasses, but she was right, I’m a woman… and that usually means there’s never just one reason or explanation for what may look like a simple act or behaviour. Although I fear the little girl may have been left confused with my real answer, “It’s very sunny today” seemed like a satisfying enough response at the time, as she ran off chasing my daughter and her friends with snowballs.
For the little girl when she grows up:
1. It was super bright and sunny (duh!)
2. They really go with my outfit (even though the stripes got swapped for skinnies for the park)
3. They have my prescription in them (I am a little short sighted)
4. Red frames are a great way to add a pop of colour to a plain outfit
5. This last one is a secret…Shhh… There’s NO need to wear eye make-up!
Who wants to spend their lazy weekend mornings putting on mascara, liner and everything else we repetitively do all week, when we can just wear our favourite sunglasses all day in the Winter Sun? I would advice to stick to “Al Fresco” coffees on the days of “bare eyes” – they put mirrors everywhere inside cafes now!
Have a great week everyone!
Big Love to the great minds! x
