THE LIGHTHOUSE
Welcome to our third and last episode (sad face) of Glasgow City Stories with Point A Hotels. Here I’m showing you my favourite spots for working from in the city and although there are many more, Simpre Bicycle Cafe and The Lighthouse are two of my old time favourites. The Lighthouse Cafe is ideal for business meetings in town and perfect for catching up on my emails between meetings. The venue also has art exhibitions on almost every floor and is a host to many workshops and educational events. I sometimes attend Business Gateway workshops in The Lighthouse and find them as a great source of support for small business owners. To take a break from all things work and business I go up to the Viewing Platform to enjoy the amazing views of Glasgow buildings and architecture. It’s pretty special.
SIEMPRE BICYCLE CAFE
My other favourite cafe where I like to work from is Siempre Bicycle Cafe. I’m not much of a cyclist but I do love the concept of the welcoming cafe. Cyclists can get their bikes fixed while they have lunch as well as update their specialist sports-wear all in one place. The food is always delicious, same as the coffee which is also strong – just as I like it and no matter how hard I try to eat well, I always end up having one of their homemade cakes. Siempre is located right next to Kelvinhall Station and they even have a little window with quicker coffee service for busy subway commuters. I love Siempre because it’s in an ideal location for me. Not far from Glasgow University with free car parking on the streets and is a lovely 15 minute walk away from Point A Hotels. Make sure to pop by Kelvingrove Art Galleries on the way and maybe even have an ice-cream in Kelvingrove Park (weather allowing).
POINT A LAUNCH PARTY SHOREDITCH
As you guys know from my social media updates several days ago, I’ve been lucky enough to stay in Point A Hotel in Shoreditch and attend the hotel’s launch party on 23rd of March. We loved the compact and tech rooms with a great power shower and a very comfortable “hypnos mattress” bed. I still can’t believe that the room rates are so affordable for that central location. A 10 minute walk from Liverpool Street Station and so many other hidden gems we’ve enjoyed discovering in Shoreditch. The views weren’t bad either (see pic below).
It was so great being part of the hotel’s launch celebrations, meeting the CEO and the rest of the Point A team that evening. All 7 Point A hotels are now opened with 6 in central London and 1 in Glasgow and I really hope there will be more.
I hope you liked our City Stories with Point A Hotels. Don’t forget to check out my favourite spots for brunch and cocktails in Glasgow too before you decide to visit the city.
