With so much focus on the 70s fashion lately, I’d like for you to take a little break from it and invite you back to the 60s – the era of mini skirts, bright colour blocking and crazy shaped sunglasses. I’ve always loved the 60s fashion, music and art… The era’s structured shapes, bright brave colours and prints stand out for me to this day, and although 60s had so many amazing style icons, my sixties style inspiration comes from the little “Miss Russia”, the MODern queen of 60s – Miroslava Duma. That perfect balance between classic and fun pop… she effortlessly gets it right!
I was so excited to have been asked to take part in the New Look Fashion Flashback Blogger Timeline and show my mainstream all New Look outfit with my own take and throwback to the 60s. Look out for New Look’s new timeline in the near future where I will be featured in the 60s section… From 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s eras to choose from, I knew that 60s was going to be so much fun! So many of the key 60s pieces are still trendy and to mind will never go out of fashion, for instance mini a-line skirts, tunic dresses, polo necks etc, but since it’s Summer (well, kind of), I decided to style up this gorgeous two-pocket mini skirt, but instead of wearing it with a tight polo neck like the girls in the 60s usually would, I tucked in a tight-fitted denim shirt and added a bit of simple tailoring with this white sleeveless blazer. 60s accessories were all about stand-out shapes, and how happy I was that New Look had these white round sunnies (already seen here & here) and my structured little white handbag to “MOD-ify” my look even more.
What’s your favourite era? Why not get inspired with New Look’s Fashion Flashback and remind yourself why you love some of the things you wear so much today!
