Every weekend and sometimes even during the week my daughter drags me to Silverburn Shopping Centre, but not for shopping – I wish! For sushi at her favourite YO! Sushi place and when I say drags me, I really mean I’m giving her hints so she asks me because I also love sushi and we usually end up checking out our favourite stores and treating ourselves to some Thornton’s ice-cream or chocolate covered strawberries. Yep we know how to enjoy ourselves!
Last weekend I was invited by Silverburn for something more grown up, but equally fun. Silverburn played host to Your5 beauty and fashion exhibit for the entire weekend located just outside Debenhams and have created so much buzz with the passers by. Your5 were touring around UK’s leading shopping centres helping us ladies figure out what our key 5 beauty or fashion items should be and how to mix them up with other accessories and items in our wardrobe we hardly wear / use.
Initially, I wanted some advice on beauty because I tend to think that I usually know what suits my body shape and what key pieces I should invest in, but decided to chat about clothes instead to one of the Your5 stylists. It’s always interesting to hear another professional’s perspective and to no surprise at all I was suggested to wear more colours. Stripes, Monochrome and Denim were other suggestions and those I wasn’t surprised about at all… Your5 stylist and I picked out my 5 favourites and the pdf collage with all the details and prices was emailed to me there and then. Almost like shopping instructions for later if you will – so handy!
Your5 is really fab for those who don’t have any idea on how to pair things up and what suits them. Lets be honest we all have those moments, especially after a Spring clearout when you look inside your wardrobe and feel like screaming as nothing can be paired up. I know so many of us buy things just because we think they’re pretty and end up never wearing them and that is never a good thing for our wallet, your husband’s wallet and for the industry in general. Agree? A chat with a pro and stylist and a quick 10 minute look through current season’s key pieces is all we need sometimes. We all have at least one thing from five key categories Your5 covers: silks, cropped trousers, sneakers, shirts and short jackets. What we do with these 5 is another story. I decided to pick shirts because they’re so versatile and this season’s been all about wide sleeves, stripes and off-the-shoulder detailing. This shirt has it all. Wear it with denim shorts and sandals for a trip to the beach or wear it to work with smart flared trousers – guaranteed to steal the show, but if you’re worried about the open neck and shoulders for work, simply tie a neckerchief round your neck for a smarter feel. Something like this below?
I must admit I was torn between silks and shirts because of two words: “pyjama top” (see middle pic in the collage above)! M&S are killing it this season and if they had the PJ blouse in my size, you would be seeing a totally different post from my “bed HQ” and possibly an evening outfit where I’d wear it with some shorts and high heeled sandals. What do you think of PJ’s as blouses / shirts? I really need one in my life…
What do you feel you need help with in your wardrobe? What’s hanging there still with their tags on? Come on… Tell me! Maybe we can swap? 😉
Enjoy the rest of your week!
