WHY TIGERLILY
Edinburgh for any visitor, local or new is usually a cultural cocktail of exploring the castle, hopping in trams, getting lost in cobbled streets, photographing architecture and stopping for plenty of coffee (or whisky) along the way, usually hiding from the rain. For me the capital is mainly all about work, events and my regular visits to Sassoon Salon on Multrees Walk, but you already know that.
A couple of weeks ago I had a lovely lunch meeting at Tigerlily in Edinburgh with Wonderhouse and couldn’t stop thinking about going back there. Not only to experience the luxury boutique hotel as I’ve heard so much about it, but the bar downstairs was the most perfect location for a shoot I had in mind with one of the brands I’m currently working with. More on that very soon and you will see exactly what I’m talking about. Match made in heaven.
Long story short, the shoot was arranged for 8 in the morning, so staying in Tigerlily the night before was the best thing we could have done. I’ll make up any excuse any day to stay at Tigerlily’s, but waking up at 4am to get ready (with full hair & makeup) and then travelling from Glasgow to Edinburgh catching all the morning traffic was the best excuse by far.
TIGERLILY BAR & RESTAURANT
It was a mix of work and pleasure for us, but if you’ve never been to Edinburgh or would like to do a staycation in style I would definitely recommend Tigerlily. The rooms are out of this world and unlike many other luxury boutique hotels, you wouldn’t want to leave the hotel, not even to go out for dinner. The restaurant’s seasonal menus are seasonally updated with a variety of Scottish dishes ideal for locals and new visitors. I could eat their Pan Seared Orkney scallops every day if I could and my other half swears by Jurassic Steak with truffle mac n’ cheese. I’ve yet to try Tigerlily’s famous Afternoon Tea, but when I do I’ll be sure to tell you all about it.
TIGERLILY LUXURY ROOM
We stayed in one of Tigerlily’s luxury double rooms and boy it was good. So much space, the most comfiest Kind Size bed with Egyptian cotton sheets, lovely views and a great mini-bar too. You can have your breakfast brought up to your room if you wish, but since we were both ready and done with the shoot, we fancied fuelling up in the restaurant. But definitely breakfast in bed next time.
Loved the little details like cosy luxury signature Tigerlily bathrobes and slippers and White Company toiletries. They even thought of GHD hair straighteners – don’t know any lady who wouldn’t appreciate that.
So there you have it. Hope this gave you an idea of what staying at Tigerlily’s might be like. Super excited to share my shots from that early morning photoshoot and show you more of Tigerlily soon, but of course, it’s simply never the same as actually experiencing it all yourself.
Have you stayed in Tierlily before?
