Be a pineapple. Stand tall, wear a crown and be sweet on the inside. Or just be the amazing YOU?
How many tall girls do you know that are proud of being the tallest in their class at school? Head up high, chest out and shoulders back. I bet the tallest girl in your class never stood up straight and probably was even made fun of? Especially if she wasn’t the “skinny model tall type”… Am I right? I’m tall, but I wasn’t the tallest in my class and although I wasn’t made too much fun of in my school days, a couple of my friends were. Just for being taller than some boys and I don’t think it’s fair.
I’m around 172cm tall (I’ve talked about this before) and all of my friends are shorter, in fact I’ve always had shorter friends and often found myself crouching in groups. For what? To avoid being made fun of? To “fit in”? Hmmm…
My daughter just started high school this week and although I think nowadays kids are less mean (I really hope so), there will always be that someone that will find something “wrong” about someone. If it’s not height it’s the glasses, fingers, spots, freckles or whatever else they might find amusing in attempt to temporarily deafen their insecurities at that point. Poor things. They’re not even aware they’re doing it and it’s not their fault, as long as our kids know it right? But still, being different and tall is pretty darn awesome.
Thanks to Long Tall Sally for the inspiration and for making such beautiful clothes for tall girls! The new Modern Simplicity collection is simply perfect and I urge you to share it with all your tall girl pals.
Be a pineapple… 😉
