LETS CHAT AW18 NEW YORK FASHION WEEK TRENDS
So Radisson Red (launching soon in Glasgow) have asked me to style up my favourite trend from the NYFW and if you think it’s the “bum bag” trend – you’re wrong. Although they’ll still be going strong in the new Fall 2018 collections according to Zimmerman, Alexander Wang, Marc Jacobs and Anna Sui. Am I glad I got myself one? Hell yeah. Glad I didn’t splash out on the Gucci one? Hell yeah, as this £22 dupe is just as good. They’re just so practical and handy. Plus they give you a nice silhouette too – Win Win! Tell that to my other half and daughter though – they’re still not convinced. But yeah, lets talk NYFW and my favourite trend from this season. It’s Red and Pink. Sorry to point out the obvious.
There were so many trends that I’m so excited about for AW18. Bum bag being of them and tea-length floral dresses is another. You might remember me rock a tea-length floral dress in this post? They’re great for showing off amazing statement booties. One of my other favourite NYFW trends was formal suits. I absolutely fell in love with looks of Badgley Mischka and Carolina Herrera. Both designers totally nailed the “business in the evening” looks with their tuxedo suits on models. I actually have 2 black tie events to go to this month and one of their gorgeous pink suits would mean I could forget about a cocktail dress. Sadly I couldn’t find the right one in Glasgow. I tried.
Anyway, back to Red and Pink. You all know I love Red (proof here, here & here) and Pink sits just so perfectly next to it on the colour palette. I was so glad to see the trend is coming back in the Autumn / Winter. My favourite Pink and Red looks were from Tibi and Self Portrait who just made me want to dig out all my pink and red pieces and wear them together all at once. And of course, it would be rude not to be on brand with Radisson RED for this collaboration don’t you agree?
My outfit inspiration sort of comes from Self Portrait. I just loved the mix of pretty laces and baggy knits with a red bootie similar to mine. I wanted to recreate a trend I’d actually wear every day and my cosy red knitted hoodie certainly adds that casual vibe I was after. My pretty pleated pink skirt creates that touch of femininity while the belt bag pulls it all in together perfectly for a cosy, casual yet super trendy NYFW look.
What do you think guys? Did you attend NYFW? Or did you keep an eye on the shows online like me? What was your favourite trend?
