You all know me by now and my love for all things HEALTHY, but what you don’t know is that I’ve secretly been stalking Juice Warrior on Instagram and everyone who tags them (weirdo!) for a few months until it was time for me to finally try their 100% raw cold pressed juices for myself. It’s their cute little (or big) glass bottles, creative names (Pina-Kale-Ada anyone?) and the “nothing added, only extracted” ethos that caught my attention. So I decided to go for something I’ve never done before and try the 2 day juice cleanse. But not just any Juice Cleanse. Juice Warrior like to listen to their customers and want to help them get the best out of their juice detox, so they are happy to tweak some of the ingredients or replace them with others altogether if you dislike any particular vegetable, herb or fruit. I will drink and eat anything as long as I know it’s good for me, but if you’re speaking to Juice Warrior – just tell them what exactly you are hoping to achieve with the cleanse and they’ll suggest the best one for you. Nice, eh?
Of course I wanted a cleanse that would help to improve my problematic skin, and of course the talented busy bees at Juice Warrior have thought of “my kind” already and created a cleanse called Cleopatra. 2 days later and my big cool box full of chilled colour and natural goodness arrived, making this old girl very happy indeed. They look delicious, but they were also very photogenic as you can see…
My Cleopatra cleanse contained 12 500ml bottles of freshly made juice – 6 for each day with 2 shots of Chlorella (Organic Chlorella, Filtered Water), which I drank first thing in the morning right before my “Pillarbox” (Watermelon, Mint, Lime). Next in line was Pina-Kale-Ada (Pineapple, Coconut Water, Kale, Spinach, Cucumber), that had me sing “The Pina Colada song” all day long. Although Juice Warrior don’t encourage excluding solids during the cleanse, I wanted to really cleanse my system and just stick to the juices, water and organic herbal tea that came in the box. Plus the juices were really filling – I didn’t even think about solids, I just couldn’t wait to drink my next juice as they were so delicious.
First day was delightful. I’ve never tried anything so fresh, flavoursome and “clever” before – it was like getting a surprise every 2 hours. My pack suggested I leave the Vanilla Dream mylk to enjoy last and I can see why. It was the most amazing thing I have ever tasted. It was like a milkshake dessert at the end of the day. A true treat indeed. Just look at the ingredients: Sprouted Almonds, Filtered water, Vanilla Pod, Pink Himalayan Salt, Dates. My mouth is watering as I write this, but I do remember that I went to sleep with a big smile on my face that night. You could say I looked like a big baby with her “milk bottle” all content in my bed! Ha!
Sweet Beet (Beetroot, Carrot, Apple, Lemon, Ginger) the following day was the highlight as I drank it after my yoga class and the refreshing burst of flavours was unbelievable. By the way, I felt absolutely fine exercising, but if you’re feeling a little weaker than usual during the cleanse, just listen to your body and maybe skip sports during the detox.
Nothin’ Fancy (Carrot, Apple) was the most photogenic and looked great with my Boden Lille Jaffa shoes, but it also tasted delicious and although it was literally “nothing fancy” – I could feel by body fuelling up and energising with all the vitamins from those bright orange organic carrots. I took my bottles to meetings with me, kept one in the car for the school run and even shared a sip with my daughter, who sadly didn’t like the carrots juice (yay, more for me!).
They were all refreshing, but the one that really stood out for me in terms of hydration was Evergreen (Cucumber, Kale, Apple, Ginger). I love anything with Kale and Ginger, whereas Cucumber flavours somehow made me think of Gin & Tonic while I was drinking it. WIN WIN I’d say, but just without the toxins…
I tried to keep the last Vanilla Dream in the fridge for as long as I could, but I’d been thinking about it since the previous night, so it was sadly gone by 9pm and very quickly I must add. It’s packed with vitamin E (great for skin) and there’s just something so “stylish” (can milk be stylish or sexy?) about it. It’s like the very grown up and very clever take on an old school milk bottle that adds to the whole experience… Is that why Juice Warrior called their mylk cleanse The Mylkman (she gasps, then winks, ha…)? I want to try them all, but how cute is this Pink Russian?

Oh and my skin… Not only did my skin feel smoother and full of “life” just after the first day, but I think you could see it getting healthier after drinking each juice – I need Juice Warrior in my life every day!
