Our roles as partners, friends, parents, sisters and brothers often mean we have to be respectful of our loved ones wishes and give them our full support – because we love them. Sometimes we give them the support they need, and sometimes we give them the support they think they need and other times we just need to go with our own intuition and give what comes from our heart against their resistance. Because we love them.
Sometimes we know what to do and other times we’re clueless, yet still feel responsible for our loved ones feelings. It’s normal. It’s love. Sometimes a smile, a hug or a simple text message will do and that’s more than enough to feel valued and special, but there are other moments when we must take on a bigger responsibility and do something new, something different. Without asking for their permission or testing the water to see if they’re up for it. Not working around anybody’s routine. Totally unplanned but not too forced without any silly excuses. Imagine someone close surprising you like that? Doing something special, spontaneous just for you… It’s even nicer being that person and you can laugh off the initial resistance or awkwardness later together…
Feel awkward for good intentions. Be spontaneous and get out of the comfort zone just for a few hours. Create new memories, feel new feelings, see new places even if they’re just an hour away from your home and fight your own comfort and resistance. Be open to new things and opportunities, especially if they come from your loved ones. They always mean well.
Wearing whatever I could grab off the rails to throw over a bikini, with a few other potential adventure essentials in my new Jim Bag which is by far the best cotton beach / gym / travel bag ever. Big enough to pack an extra outfit and some lunch with you, yet so quirky and stylish it turns heads wherever you are. Here’s to creating more special memories!
Do something new this week for someone close to you!
Oh and Happy Birthday to my a very special person in my life, very close to my heart – my dad! xxx
