Wool, knits, tweed, sheepskin, fleece or any soft warming (including thermals) fabrics we all think about when it comes to Winter. But it’s knits, knits and more knits for me usually and wouldn’t it be nice if jeans were lined with some sort of warm fleece as well? I never usually spend that much time outside in the cold, but in case I do – I want to be prepared. It’s in my blood. I remember growing up in Estonia as a kid and having to wear super thick tights under my trousers and jeans and let me tell you – it was not nice. I really don’t like tights now and I think you can understand why. I promise Estonia is far more trendier now and things (under jeans) have definitely changed or at least I hope so.
To avoid all contact with tights I’m sticking to leather skinnies and coated / waxed jeans this Winter.
Whether you opt for real leather or leatherette skinnies / leggings it doesn’t really matter. The texture is thick enough to keep your pins warm, especially if the lining of the trouser is soft too. The same goes for coated jeans. I just got my first EVER pair of coated jeans from my friends at Long Tall Sally and having road-tested them last weekend I absolutely love them. Not sure if all coated jeans are like that, but my pair is extremely soft, stretchy and fit me like a glove but then again, I think it’s because they’re from LTS. I’ll show and tell you more about them soon…
As for outerwear, I can’t get enough of my fluffy cosy coat with brushed effect.
It really is the softest and warmest fabric out there especially if you’re not in the mood for walking about in heavy faux fur all the time on structured tweed / wool coats. I love all my winter coats for all the different occasions, but this pink fluffy cloud can be thrown over anything for that extra heat – even over a leather or denim jacket.
I have one more jacket to show you all soon and if you thought I love all my current coats unconditionally already (I really do!), I squeaked and screamed when the postman brought me this one. Eeek…
What textures can you not live without this Winter? Any embarrassing childhood fashion disasters?
