BREASTFEEDING & FASHION
Alrighty ladies, outfit pictures out of the way (sorry I’d otherwise feel as though the shoot was wasted + I love these so much), lets talk Fashion and Breastfeeding. Or lack of such harmony…
We all agreed (there were many of you) on Instagram stories that there is a serious gap in the market for stylish breastfeeding clothes. A gap I am seriously considering filling somehow someday, but for now, we’re left with your typical maternity / nursing wear (NO from me) and our everyday high street fashion. I’ve been breastfeeding for almost 5 months and I’d say 2 of those months confidently in public.
There are two types of breastfeeding in my opinion. The one where you’re at home and it doesn’t really matter what you wear as the boobs are always out and we all love this type. No need to write a blog post for that one. And then there’s the other – public, where you want easy access, fast, without too much flashing and all whilst looking and feeling amazing and stylish. Is it too much to ask?
I’ve struggled to find genius and trendy pieces designed specifically for nursing, so I’ve stuck to our usual high street and realised what works for me over time. These are shirts, button-up tops, cardigans, dresses and some knits that I sometimes prefer to pull up instead. All depends on the day and where we’re going, but just to be safe – I always wear a good nursing bra and stretchy cami vest. These are great basics to start with and rely on.
So, without further adieu, here are some of the categories of breastfeeding-friendly clothes I love. Affordable and stylish. Enjoy x
