When I was asked by one of my favourite brands BOOHOO to participate in their “New Year, New Me” campaign, I couldn’t wait to work on the project and shoot some of their trendy and super comfy gym-wear from their BOOHOO FIT collection. I also really wanted to share some of my thoughts and opinions on the “healthier me” New Year’s resolutions and hopefully give you some encouragement, especially for those who are a bit annoyed with January in general so to speak.
Many of us are healthy and fit all year round, and I particularly admire those who are disciplined during Christmas holidays and colder winter months because it can be tough. The weather makes it harder to workout outside and gyms are simply not for everyone, but we all know exercising in any form / amount is a must. Making New Year’s resolutions to be more fit and healthy in the New Year is without a doubt the trickiest promise one can make to themselves, especially when gyms are filled with the “newcomers” in January and you know deep down you’re not fully ready for that public commitment. A lot of people spend their January adjusting their diets, focusing on getting back to work after festivities and I wouldn’t blame them if exercising was the last thing on their mind. I know for a fact that most people don’t even “promise” themselves of a healthier and fitter lifestyle in the New Year just in case they can’t keep that promise and avoid disappointment later… That’s all fine and understandable, so lets do something and forget January, because you know what? There’s eleven other months and a whole lotta hours in one of those 365 days we can put aside for some “Healthy Me” time, there’s always time for that and this is why making resolutions is to some extent pointless in my opinion. It’s not like gyms are only open in January and gym clothes are only sold at the start of the year, right?
I don’t know about you, but I usually work on a cleaner diet (check out my HEALTH section for some tips) after festivities and invest in some new gym clothes in preparations for a fitter me – this happens a couple of times a year by the way… Post-Easter festivities are the worst. Ha! Love that BOOHOO FIT collection prices are so affordable and with such versatile styles I know I’ll have enough sports-wear in my wardrobe for every day, no excuse. This pair of mesh panel leggings from BOOHOO.com are already in my basket and they’ look great with a long jumper dress too for my pre-yoga morning school runs and late night emergency supermarket trips. That’s right, I chose my fitness classes to suit my busy schedule and there are plenty of centres, gyms and personal trainers that will help you in an instant without any crazy monthly subscriptions in your city. I picked these grey dance leggings mainly for my yoga classes because they’re so light and stretchy, but they are also perfect for running in outside. My sports top is amazingly warm – perfect for throwing over after a class on the way home, but I may have worn it with skinny jeans to visit my mum too and if gym-wear can be casually worn at weekends – I’ll need more of it!
What are you like with your fitness? Are your New Year’s resolutions working for you? Is January the best month for starting a healthier and fitter lifestyle? I’d love to hear, so please comment below and lets chat about this!
PS! Do you like my ankle tattoo courtesy of my daughter? 😉
