HOW TO BE MORE FRENCH
When it comes to Fashion, Beauty and Fragrance, there’s no denying that French do it chicer. I remember growing up in the 80s in Soviet Union and women at that time dreamt about owning French perfume, handbags and make-up. In fact it’s still pretty much the same all over the world, though things are a bit more accessible nowadays. It’s easier to “be more French” with just a few minor details and I have a few tricks and tips on how to achieve that effortless Parisian chic look in conjunction with the exciting launch of the NEW Jean Paul Gaultier Perfume – Scandal. Taking a Parisian inspiration to create a sophisticated, chic and timeless perfume I have absolutely fallen in love with.
Without going overboard with breton stripes and berets, I thought I’d go for something that is more me, more effortless in this look. Bows, scarfs, neckerchiefs on the neck and in messy hair always makes me think French style. Shirts tucked into jeans is such a classic look and French girls wear it so perfectly. My blouse with this bow pretty much does both of the above and a flared jean adds that bit of chicness emphasising the pointy toe flats. Woven bags are also timeless as well as super trendy at the moment – I wear them with everything. Makes me think of Summers in the South of France…
French girls are known for looking after their skin and “barely there” makeup during the day. Evening make-up is glamourised by adding that perfect standout “rouge” lipstick and their jewellery and accessories always go hand in hand with their maquillage. It’s all about that natural glow to complement your style and for me adding a bit of highligher to my cheekbones and tip of the nose always does the trick. Smokey eye and a nude lip is definitely my go-to, but I felt like a red lip to brighten up my slightly colourless look and a pair of cat-eye sunnies. They are perfect for emphasising your perfectly groomed eyebrows – another huge aspect of French make-up. Bold, effortless and natural, working with tones to complement your skin tone is key.
Hands up if you feel never “fully dressed” if you’ve not sprayed your favourite perfume before you go out? And hands up if you have at least one French perfume in your home? If you don’t own any, don’t dispair – I have an exciting giveaway you can enter below. There’s something about completing your every day look whatever the occasion with your favourite French perfume. Improving your mood, adding a spring to your step and simply adding that bit of extra chic with your very own bouquet of favourite scents. Scandal by Jean Paul Gaultier presents a scent that embodies Parisian femininity. Sophisticated and timeless, yet still fearless and bold. If you’re a Jean Paul Gaultier fan already you’ll be pleased to know that its signature honey note is still there but is now paired with intoxicating tuberose, sandalwood and Tonka bean for an even more addictive blend. This fragrance encourages women to embrace their inner Parisian femininity and its scent really does “Speak French”.
